Which devices does Büechli run on?
Büechli is made for the iPhone Duo and runs on every iPhone, iPad and Mac too. On those, hold the device upright for the closed notebook and sideways for an open book.
Where are my notebooks stored?
In the folder Büechli in your iCloud Drive: one Markdown file per notebook, with the handwriting in a folder beside it. You can open, copy and back up these files like any others.
How do I write by hand?
Hold a page for a second, and your finger draws. Tap away from the ink to type again. With an Apple Pencil paired, the Pencil draws, and your fingers type and turn the pages. To turn handwriting into text, use Convert ink to text in the toolbar.
How do I add a bookmark?
Tap the red ribbon at the top of the page to open the index, then Bookmark this page. Give it a title if you like: titled bookmarks show as coloured bands in the contents, untitled ones as ribbons.
Can I use my existing Markdown files?
Yes. Tap the + slot at the end of the shelf and choose Import Markdown. To share a notebook, hold it on the shelf or the desk and choose Export as Markdown.
I deleted a notebook by mistake.
Deleted notebooks wait under the bookcase in Recently deleted. Hold the faded spine and choose Restore. Only Delete permanently removes a notebook for good.
Which languages does Büechli speak?
Every language of the iPhone, plus Swiss German and Serbian – 52 in all. Büechli follows your phone's language; right-to-left languages get a mirrored book.
Does Büechli collect any data?
No. The app has no account, no analytics and no network access of its own. Your notebooks sync only through your own iCloud Drive. See the privacy policy.
